Filmine Lamp

It is 1999, and we found in the streets of Barcelona a film can with the 70s ‘The Persil commercial man’ inside, a 35 mm television spot archetypical to a given generation. This fact led us to the following conclusions:

  • It was a pity to lose the value of that image between nostalgic and kitsch. ‘The Persil commercial man’ was a hero of the past, an obscure character fighting against an opponent far more popular than him on tv: ‘The White Man of Colon’.
  • It was also a pity not to use such a versatile material as celluloid is.
  • It would be good to use the magic transparency of the celluloid to make a lamp.

The Filmine lamp began to be marketed in 2000, available in the DOM store (Barcelona), Víctimas del Celuloide (Madrid), Dos i Una (Barcelona) and as a prop for several TV series.

Over the years, we have collected thousands of meters of films such as ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, ‘Leap into the Void’, ‘Bloody Kung Fu’ or ‘El alcalde y la política’.

Currently only available as a suspension lamp in different diameters here.
